Cast Glass Yew Tree Bowl

The movement of texture in this cast crystal platter comes from the ancient Yew tree in the church yard on the grounds of our studio. Max hoists himself into the tree to capture the exterior texture of the tree with all of it’s burls embedded in the bark the tree holds stories over a thousand years old.

The platter is cast in clear glass with a polished surface and texture underneath. The thickness of the glass at 1 cm enhances the optics allowing light to travel through all of the nooks and crannies.

All of our work is cast by hand at the Max Jacquard Studio in the weald of Kent. We work out of a large converted barn with a dedicated team of glass casters. It is Max’s experience with glass and ingenuity in casting techniques that are the signature of every piece that comes out of our studio.
