Semazen Sculpture

The Semazen sculptures are a part of a series of core cast sculptures inspired by the spinning forms of the Sufi Dervishes and the oscillations of AM radio waves.

This core cast vessel is made by turning the inner and outer plaster models on the lathe. Once the inner core is “locked in”, glass is packed into a feed and will melt down into the spaces between the core and the outer form during a kiln firing. The inner having textured ridges and the outer smooth.

Cast in a range of different colours with bronze mounts and a natural stone base, each Semazen is a unique exploration of the forms of sound waves captured in optical crystal.
